Mental Health

Mental health

Today I’m most interested in the big issue – how do we bring health into the Executive Team / Boardroom and open-up conversations on health as a strategic priority?

This is a huge performance improvement opportunity and one that starts with focusing on the leaders themselves. From improving their self-awareness and empathy through to how they are making the big decisions on the business (setting priorities, allocating resources, and investing) and on executive teamwork.

As well as helping my individual clients, I have been collaborating with a group of 12 University Vice-Chancellors to design and create a practical and flexible toolkit. We’ve built something that is easy to use to open real conversations with their Executive Teams on Mental Health and Wellbeing as a strategic priority – for the whole university and for individual leaders.

It is a fascinating journey with the Vice-Chancellors, unique, individual, no prescribed outcome yet enough structure to provide hooks for meaningful conversations. Early outcomes are very positive indeed and we are now offering the toolkit to a wider group of university leadership teams.

It is available to buy as an Executive Team toolkit – for use by up to 15 people. Leadership Coaching and team facilitation of the tool is also available from The Watson Practice lead@thewatsonpractice.com
