About The Watson Practice

Welcome! My name is Mark Watson. I am excited to share more about what we have created for leaders.

A business that focuses on improving the lives of CEO’s and their leadership teams –  establish clearer priorities, develop the way they lead people, improve  business and personal performance, explore more potential, and achieve a greater sense of fulfilment.

Working one to one and with the executive team as a whole – our approach begins with understanding the context and current reality of the business and the lives of the leaders involved.  We help develop a deeper sense of purpose, improve effectiveness in leading people and leadership teamworking to support a shift in culture that will deliver the chosen quality of human experience (internal and external).

To do this we get to grips with understanding how your business works, the strategy and priorities, the prevailing culture, individual roles and the personal preferences of the leaders. This helps us deliver a highly personalised approach – whether working with an individual, the team or for  the whole business. We explore and agree the specific elements of improvement that are relevant to your stage of development and current reality. For example – a greater self-awareness, building more emotional intelligence into decision making, sustaining good health and wellbeing,  reviewing personal communication, building more meaningful relationships and developing a more open approach to growth.

We deliver  through a mix of development coaching, consultancy, sharing of extensive experience and wisdom, facilitation and the use of custom tools for leaders. When appropriate we will also draw on the expertise of our network of specialists in other fields.

Experience

Mark works in a collaborative style with clients, he is empathetic and focused on helping individuals and teams explore their full potential.

He always works with an understanding of the full context and most often uses visual approaches to help explore opportunities and challenges – his visuals,  conversation starters and tools for leaders, are very much unique to his compelling ways of working.

Set out here are a few examples of Mark Watson’s experience of working with senior leaders on strategy, leadership, culture and, development coaching over the last 30 years or so.

These examples give a snap–shot of some of the main elements of Mark’s work with clients.

Think

"What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are small matter compared to what lies within us and when we bring this out into the open, miracles happen."

Henri David Thoreau

I love this quote! My experiences of working with leaders over the last 30 years has showed me many examples of the importance of a deep self-awareness and bringing this into how we choose to lead.

It can sometimes be hard to look at ourselves with an open mind and a compassionate heart – we need both.

In improving how we lead, things begin here – before we take a close look at the context in which we lead and how our business works (everything connected).

Then to move on to explore how this affects the relationships we need to build with each other and how we choose to behave as a leadership team.

So often it is the quality of dialogue within the team that makes the biggest difference – a true exchange of meaning without prejudice.

"Conversation is a meeting of minds with different memories and habits. When minds meet, they don't just exchange facts: they transform them, draw different implications from them, engage in new trains of thought. Conversation doesn't reshuffle the cards: it creates new cards."
